To improve recognizing accuracy in the case of recognizing time data from a standard radio wave.
A radio controlled timepiece includes: a binarization circuit 37 having hysteresis characteristics for binarizing and outputting an envelope signal; a signal recognition part 411 for detecting the signal width of each signal output by the binarization circuit 37, and for recognizing a 0 signal or 1 signal on the basis of the detected signal width; a determination part 414 for determining whether or not the 0 signal and 1 signal recognized by the signal recognition part 411 is correct; a calculation part 415 for, when it is determined that those signals are correct by the determination part 414, calculating at least either a difference between the mean value of the detected signal width of the signal recognized as the 0 signal and signal width indicating the 0 signal or a difference between the mean value of the detected signal width of the signal recognized as the 1 signal and signal width indicating the 1 signal; and a decode part 416 for comparing the signal width of each signal output by the binarization circuit 37 with a threshold by using the difference calculated by the calculation part 415 to recognize the 0 signal or 1 signal, and for extracting time data.
