To provide a radio transmitter and a radio communication system which reduces the power consumption, improves the communication quality and controls according to a required quality.
The radio communication system comprises a transmitter 10 having a plurality of transmitting antennas 11a-11d, and a receiver 20 having a plurality of receiving antennas 21a-21d. The transmitter 10 has a plurality of transmitter units 12a-12d provided for the respective transmitting antennas 11a-11d, a base band signal processor 13, and a selector 14. The receiver 20 has a plurality of receiving units 22a-22d provided for the respective receiving antennas 21a-21d, and a base band processor 23. A transmission-reception diversity method is selected, based on the transmission line condition, and the number of antennas is selected, based on the properties of transmission information. Thus, the number of used antennas is changeable according to the properties of the information to make a radio communication suited to a required quality.
