Title:
RADOME WITH HEATING/IMPEDANCE MATCHING ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04150302
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To well match conductors for heating the dielectric member of an antenna radome to the surrounding space at a given operating wavelength by constituting the conductors so that the reflection coefficients of the conductors can become smaller than that of the dielectric member for input electromagnetic waves. CONSTITUTION: For an antenna, a radome 12 is supported so that the radome 12 is expanded in front of a slot-type waveguide. The radome 12 is composed of a dielectric sheet composed of layers 20 and 22. Conductors 16 are laid in parallel with each other in the direction parallel to the electric field of electromagnetic energy as a whole. Both ends of each conductor 16 are connected to terminal bus lines 24 and 26 and each conductor 16 generates heat in the radome 12 when a voltage is applied across the conductor 16 so as to prevent the freezing of the external surface of the radome 12. Since the reflection coefficient of the radome 12 to electromagnetic energy of the operating wavelength of the antenna is lowered by using the conductors 16, the radome 12 is mismatched to the antenna element of the antenna or, even when the radome 12 is moved, the effect of the radome 12 on the actual antenna pattern becomes small.
