To provide a range finder having azimuth measuring capability.
This range finder, having the azimuth measuring ability, comprises a distance measuring instrument, an azimuth measuring instrument, and a processing unit. The distance-measuring instrument comprises a light emission source for emitting a light beam toward a target, a receiver for receiving a light beam reflected by the target to output a corresponding receiving signal, a comparison circuit having a reference voltage value, and for receiving the reception signal to decide on the presence of a pulse higher than the reference voltage value, and a gain circuit for receiving the receiving signal from the receiver for amplification, to output a corresponding amplified signal. The an azimuth-measuring instrument respectively measures the first and second magnetic values, based on the measured azimuth. The processing unit finds the distance between the target and the range finder, based on the pulse or the amplified signal, and the measured azimuth, based on the first and second magnetic values.
