PURPOSE: To easily manufacture the rare earth cobalt magnet having excellent homogeneity in compsn. at low cost by mixing rare earth cobalt series metallic powders having specified compsn. each obtd. by a reduction diffusing method and a melting method and executing forming and firing.
CONSTITUTION: RCon series metallic powder obtd. by a reduction diffusing method (R denotes rare earth elements and 3.7≤n≤5.0 is regulated) and RCon series metallic powder obtd. by a melting method (R denotes rare earth elements and 3.7≤n≤5.0 is regulated) are mixed in a prescribed ratio. As the above powder by a reduction diffusing method, (Sm1-xPrx)Con series (x≤0.4 and 3.7≤n≤5.0) is preferably used, and as the powder by a melting method, (Sm1-xPrx)Con (x≥0.4 and 3.7≤n≤5.0) is preferably used. The mixed powders are subjected to press forming in a magnetic field. Next, the formed body is fired in an Ar gas atmosphere. In this way, the rare earth cobalt magnet having homogeneous compsn. of (Sm1-xPrx)Con (0.4≤x≤0.7 and 4.2≤n≤4.8) or the like and having less dispersion of characteristics can be obtd.
