PURPOSE: To obtain the subject ravelling cord separable by the pulling as well as by the dissolution with water at 25°C by dry-spinning a PVA having low saponification degree to form a yarn having high strength and soluble in water at 25°C, twisting the yarn and applying a lubricant having high dispersibility in water to the yarn.
CONSTITUTION: A polyvinyl alcohol having low saponification degree (88-94mol%) is dissolved in water to obtain a solution having a concentration of 33%. The solution is subjected to dry-spinning through a nozzle at a draw ratio of 5 and a drawing and heat-treating temperature of 135°C. The fiber is coated with 1% of a lubricant having high water-dispersibility and produced by emulsifying a mineral oil and an alkyl alkylate with a polymeric surfactant. The obtained water-soluble fiber having improved slipperiness and a total fineness of 400 d is twisted at a rate of 50-300T/M to obtain the objective ravelling cord for weft knitting soluble in water at ≤25°C having a strength of ≥1,400g/400d and separable by pulling as well as dissolution in water at ≤25°C.
