PURPOSE: To realize the RDS receiver with high economy in which RDS operation is surely executed without sudden sound interrupt or a long loss of sound.

CONSTITUTION: The diversity is executed in which reception electric field strength of two tuners are compared in the normal reception state and a main/ sub changeover circuit 12 selects a signal from a tuner whose electric field strength is higher. When the reception electric field strength of the main tuner is smaller than a prescribed threshold level, a broadcast station received by the main tuner is kept as it is and a signal from the main tuner is sounded. Simultaneously, the system allows the sub tuner to execute seeking in a same band and to seek the same broadcast as that received by the main tuner and the reception electric field strength is compared with that of the broadcast received by the main tuner at present. When the sought reception electric field strength is higher than the current reception electric field strength, the main tuner is tuned to the broadcast station sought by the sub tuner.
