To provide a reaction control system for a reaction for adding an alkylene oxide to an active hydrogen-containing compound and/or a fatty acid alkyl ester, contriving to directly, rapidly and surely detect the final point of the reaction from a reactor and control the feeding amount of the alkylene oxide to stabilize the product.
This reaction control system for the alkylene oxide addition reaction is provided with an arithmetic means for calculating at least one physical property selected from the hydroxyl group value and the clouding point of the reaction product from the near infrared absorption spectrum of the reacting reaction product by either of a method for disposing a line for taking out a part of the reaction solution from a reactor 4 and subsequently returning the part of the reaction solution to the reactor 4 through a near infrared absorption spectrum spectroscopic analysis means and a method for directly disposing the detection terminal of the near infrared absorption spectrum spectroscopic analysis means in the reactor 4, and with a means for controlling the amount of the alkylene oxide fed into the reactor in response to the calculation value. The method for producing the alkylene oxide adduct uses the reaction control system for the alkylene oxide addition reaction.
