Title:
REACTOR FOR THERMAL CLEAVAGE DECOMPOSITION OF CARBAMATE AND THERMAL CLEAVAGE DECOMPOSING METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3238201
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a reactor for thermal cleavage decomposition of carbamates in a liquid phase into the corresponding isocyanates and hydroxyl components.
CONSTITUTION: This reactor is used for the thermal cleavage decomposition of mono- and poly-functional carbamates in such a manner that the reaction between the produced isocyanate and hydroxyl component is not caused and that no by-product is produced. The shape of the reactor is determined by the degassing area in correlation with the volume and by the arrangement of the heating surfaces. In this reactor, the decomposition is carried out to produce a two-phase mixture with >50% gas volume content. Therefore, cleavage decomposition of carbamates can be industrially carried out for a long period without using a solvent or diluent and without stopping the operation due to clogging or contamination by polymerizable by-products.
