PURPOSE: To fetch a picture signal regardless of a moving speed by fetching the signal in response to the moving distances.
CONSTITUTION: The light given from an illumination source 4 is irradiated on a subject 3 to be recognized via a half mirror 5 and a cut part 2. The light reflected by the object 3 is divided into two parts by a half mirror 6, and the components of these divided beams form an image independently on a picture input line sensor 9 and a position detecting line sensor 10 respectively. The output picture signal of the sensor 10 is supplied to a moving distance detector 13 via a position detecting line sensor driver 11. This picture signal of the detector 13 is compared with another picture signal obtained at a time point when a prescribed period of time elapses from the time point when the picture signal is supplied to the detector 13. Then an overlap area of these two picture signals is detected to measure the moving distance of the picture signal. An output signal is produced every fixed distance and supplied to a picture fetching device 14. The device 14 fetches the picture signal from the sensor 9 in response to the output signal.
