Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a video image which matches the aspect ratio of the screen of the display device, by reducing or enlarging entire video image into arbitrary size.
SOLUTION: A video signal is written in a memory 103 according to a write clock from an input terminal 118. A clock-generating circuit 119 supplies a read clock whose frequency is about 4/3 times that of the write clock to the memory 103. A vertical enlargement control circuit 110 reads the video signal from the memory 103, in a line period corresponding to an enlargement factor. The writing of a single-line memory 105 is stopped in the similar period and a line delay output of an output signal of the memory 103 is obtained. According to a control signal from the vertical enlargement control circuit 110, a vertical interpolation circuit 106 generates a scanning line signal by an interpolation calculation. The horizontal direction is similarly controlled by a horizontal enlargement control circuit 113.
