To provide a receiver and receiving method for monitoring extinguishment of a section and reducing redundant data transfer to a memory and redundant data analysis by a processor.
The receiver includes: a monitor flag storage section 181; a filter information storage section 157 for storing a last version number; a filter processing section 182 in which when a section included in received data is input, a monitor flag is cleared, a version number included in the section is compared with the last version number, and the section is discarded when matched, or the section is transferred to a memory 172 when not matched; and a processor 171 which is configured to obtain the section from the memory 172, monitors the monitor flag at predetermined time intervals and resets the monitor flag when the monitor flag is cleared, or detects that the section is extinguished when the monitor flag is set.
