A reception circuit 2 converts a signal received by each antenna (branch) 1 into a base band signal and a complex multiplier section 100 and a complex adder section 15 synthesizes the base band signals. A weight calculation section 30 calculates the weight of the complex multiplier section 100. In a weight update algorithm of the weight calculation section 30, the step size in the LMS is variable. That is, the initial value is set to a large value and the set value is decreased with the lapse of time in each time slot and the value is initialized every time a time slot is changed. Thus, the convergence speed of updating the weight is increased at an arithmetic quantity nearly equal to that for a conventional LMS.
