To provide a receiving apparatus, transmitting apparatus, digital CATV system, joint receiving apparatus and joint receiving system in which view information of clients can be summed up in a CATV station without assigning any band for up communications.
In the receiving apparatus, according to a predetermined schedule, a broadcasting wave resulting from superimposing view information (such as pseudo random noise, for example) on a broadcasting wave under viewing and a broadcasting wave not to superimpose the view information thereon are generated. In the transmitting apparatus, according to the same schedule as the receiving apparatus, broadcasting waves are sampled, the view information which is superimposed in the receiving apparatus, is extracted from the difference between the sampled broadcasting waves, and it is decided and summed up from the presence/non-presence of the view information whether the broadcasting wave with the view information superimposed thereon is being viewed, thereby distributing a broadcast program while changing its program constitution.
