PURPOSE: To enable to form an uniform woven fabric without the hooking of warps with the projections of a weft by covering the lover warps with receiv ing plates disposed below the lower warps, when the specific weft having the projections and depressions is grasped with the grip of a latch and inserted into a shed.

CONSTITUTION: When a specific weft 6 having projections and depressions is grasped with the grip 5 of a latch 4 and inserted into a shed formed between upper warps 1 and lower warps 2, a driving device 7 is driven to slid the cam type sliding groove 10 of a connector 9 on a fixed biter 11 through a rod 8. Receiving plates 12 attached to the connector 9 are thus transferred in the oblique upward direction and the tip projections 13 of the receiving plates 12 are moved above the lower warps 2 through the lower warps 2 to place at positions 14 covering the lower warps 2. In the state the weft 6 grasped with the grip of the latch 4 is guided and inserted into the shed 3 without the hooking of the lower warps 2 with the projections of the weft 6 on the receiving plates 12. The receiving plates 12 are subsequently returned below the lower warps 2 by the recovering movement of the driving device 7 or the action of a spring 15.
