To receive a signal on which a digital audio signal is multiplexed in an excellent way by selecting an output from a received 1st audio signal into a 2nd audio signal in the case that number of times of occurrence of errors of the received digital audio signal exceeds a prescribed threshold value.
In the case that a reserve audio/switching/flag C4 is set to 'H', a reception state is deteriorated and an noise is increased, and when an error rate of an NICAM audio signal being PCM data exceeds a prescribed threshold value, an analog audio signal is automatically selected. On the other hand, when the reserve audio/switching/flag C4 is set to 'L' and a recipient selects an audio signal different from contents of a video image, since the recipient intentionally selects the NICAM audio signal, a margin is given to an error rate of PCM data and a threshold value that is a little increased is set and the analog audio signal is selected when the error rate exceeds the newly set threshold value.
