PURPOSE: To transmit rotary force of pulleys to a belt efficiently by making the belt go around a large pulley at a terminal of a going path and turn in the shape of character U and folding the belt back, winding the belt around a pulley which rotates around a vertical axial line and guiding it so that it is inverted at both terminals of a belt-type moving sidewalk.

CONSTITUTION: A belt 1 in a going path is wound around a large pulley 3 at a terminal by approximately 180°, and then is inverted by 90° from under mt to twine around a vertical pulley 5. Next, it is inverted by 90°, goes under a large horizontal pulley 4 in a return path, goes around it and goes above the pulley 4 to become a belt 2 in the return path for advance. That is, when the belt 1 is inverted from the large pulley 3 at the terminal in the going path by approximately 180° and twined around the vertical pulley 5 in a condition that the inner side of the belt 1 is above the vertical pulley 5 and the outer side thereof is below the vertical pulley 5, its surface becomes the inner side to twine around the vertical pulley 5. Consequently, rotary force of the pulleys is transmitted to the belt 1 efficiently.
