PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce damage to a solid substance without changing spring elasticity and-without varying a flow rate of solid-containing fluidal food by providing a check valve on a line where the fluidal food flows and by including a shield member for shielding a part of a flow path formed in a gap between a valve body and a valve seat at an open valve position.
SOLUTION: A check valve 10 used in the reciprocating pump is equipped with a shield member 19. The shield member 19 is a cylinder 19 of an arbitrary form with a circular cross section or the like. The cylinder 19 is placed with an end connected to a valve seat 11 so that a gap between a valve body 16 and the valve seat 11 is shielded. The valve body 16 which has moved to an open valve position makes the gap from the valve seat 11, wherein fluidal food flows via the gap while a part of a flow path is shielded by the shield member 19. On the other hand, since a flow rate of the fluidal food is determined by a reciprocating mechanism of the reciprocating pump, the open valve position is displaced toward downstream to widen the gap between the valve body 16 and the valve seat 11 to allow a constant amount to pass through. Thus the reciprocating pump reduces damage to passing solid substances.
