Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a recognition apparatus by which the position of an own vehicle is detected with high accuracy by a method wherein a prescribed magnetic field is formed on a prescribed running road and a vehicle which is run on the running road excludes the influence of geomagnetism, the rock of a vehicle, other magnetic bodies or the like.
SOLUTION: An apparatus is constituted of one or a plurality of magnetic- field formation means 1-2 which are laid in prescribed positions on a road surface and which form a prescribed magnetic field, of a magnetic-field-strength detecting means 1-4 which detects the magnetic field strength formed by the magnetic-field formation means 1-2, of a vehicle-position-computing-suitability judgment means 1-5 which computes the position of a vehicle on the basis of a magnetic-field strength obtained by the magnetic-field-strength detecting means 1-4 and of a vehicle-position computing means 1-6 which receives the judgment result of the vehicle-position-computing-suitability judgement means 1-5 and which detects the position of the vehicle on the basis of the magnetic field strength obtained by the magnetic-field-strength detecting means 1-4.
