Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to reconstruct a satellite in order to simulate another satellite in a satellite group by combining a flexible antenna system, a variable down link conversion system and selectable filter technology.
SOLUTION: In a section I, input signals are received by eight antenna ports 30. A network 34 combines beams received by a required combination in order to obtain flexible antenna coverage. A down converter 36 can process various frequency bands and execute any of six conversion required by six satellite squadrons. A section II receives a set of signals from the section I and divides these signals into channeled parts by using input multiplexer filters. Even when a certain satellite is failed in a satellite group, the failed satellite can be backed up and the reconstructable satellite can provide backup coverage without interrupting service.
