PURPOSE: To enable plotting on a second side of a paper through automatically reversing a paper by providing a mechanism for moving a recording paper on a platen in an X direction, a pen carriage capable of being moved in a Y direction, and a paper-reversing mechanism disposed at an end part with respect to a paper-feeding direction of the platen.

CONSTITUTION: When plotting on a first side of a recording paper 2 is finished, a shutter 19 is opened by an instructing means, and a driving roller 5 is rotated in the direction of an arrow to feed the paper 2 into a paper-reversing mechanism 11. Then, the paper 2 is fed forward along a first paper guide 15, is thereafter clamped between a reversing roller 12 and a lower pinch roller 14, and is fed forward along a second paper guide 16. Further, the leading end of the paper 2 is clamped between the reversing roller 12 and an upper pinch roller 13, and is fed out from the mechanism 11 onto a platen 1. At this time, the driving roller 5 is rotated in the reverse direction, whereby the paper 2 clamped between the driving roller 5 and a pinch roller 6 is fed to a predetermined position, and the shutter 19 is closed. In this condition, the paper 2 has a second side directed upward. Thus, plotting can be conducted on both sides of the paper.
