To correctly correct a recording position by correctly detecting a recording sheet transfer amount error resulting from the behavior when a rear end of the recording sheet slips from a pinch roller in a recorder.
In an arrangement in which the recording sheet P is transferred by a pair of a transfer roller 36 and the pinch roller 37 and a pair of a paper discharge roller 41 and a spur 42, a transfer amount of the recording sheet is detected by encoder mechanisms 44 and 45 set to the paper discharge roller 41 of the downstream side. Even if the recording sheet is transferred excessively by an urging force or the like of the pinch roller 37 when the rear end of the recording sheet P separates from nipping by the transfer roller 36 and the pinch roller 37, the paper discharge roller 41 rotates as well by following the movement. Therefore, the movement amount of the recording paper can be correctly detected by the encoder mechanisms.
