Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus, a detection device, and a detection method capable of detecting whether abnormality has occurred in a carriage or a temperature sensor, that is a reason behind being unable to read new temperature information.SOLUTION: A recording apparatus for recording with a recording head mounted to a movable carriage includes: reading means for reading temperature information measured with a temperature sensor at timing based on movement of the carriage, at prescribed intervals; detection means for detecting a position of the carriage; first determination means for determining whether or not the temperature information read by the reading means is updated; second determination means for determining whether or not the position of the carriage detected by the detection means has changed; and determination means for determining whether abnormality has occurred in the temperature sensor or the carriage, on the basis of time during which the first determination means has continuously determined that the temperature information is not updated, and time during which the position of the carriage has not been changed continuously according to the second determination means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
