To provide a recording apparatus which can prevent a thermal degradation of a conveying body by regulating an irradiation region with heat rays in line with passing of a recording medium, and to provide a recording method.

An inkjet printer has a heating unit 16 which applies the heat rays from a halogen heater 30 to a paper P conveyed by a conveyance belt 21. The inkjet printer carries out recording by heating drying the ink ejected to the paper P by the heating unit 16. A shutter film 38 is set to the heating unit 16, which makes the heat rays applied to the paper P in line with passing of the paper P to the halogen heater 30, while meanwhile, regulating the irradiation region with heat rays to prevent the heat rays from being applied to regions other than the paper P on the conveyance belt 21.
