To provide a recording apparatus that can reliably suction and hold a medium to be recorded and improve functionality and operability.
The recording apparatus includes: a platen 25 in which a plurality of suction holes 26 passing through from a medium support surface 25a to a rear surface are formed; pressure chambers 27A provided for each of the suction holes 26 in a one for one manner on the rear surface side while communicating with the suction holes 26; a pressure chamber 27B disposed on the side opposite to the platen 25 of the plurality of pressure chambers 27A and communicating with the plurality of pressure chambers 27A; a wall section 30 which is disposed between the pressure chambers 27A and the pressure chamber 27B and in which a plurality of suction holes 32 each making the pressure chambers 27A and the pressure chamber 27B communicate with each other are formed; a suction mechanism 28 which suctions rolled paper R disposed on the medium support surface 25a through the suction holes 26 and the suction holes 32; and a slide plate 52 movable in a parallel fashion along the wall section 30 on the pressure chambers 27A side and provided with a plurality of blocking portions 34 having different lengths in a direction of parallel movement and capable of blocking the suction holes 32.
