Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus that gives consideration to miniaturization of the apparatus while comprising a configuration for detecting a sheet edge position.SOLUTION: A recording apparatus comprises a recording head for performing recording on a recording medium and edge detection means for detecting an edge of the recording medium, and also comprises a carriage that can move in a predetermined direction. In a state in which the carriage is in a predetermined position, the edge detection means is positioned within a recording medium passage area in the movement direction of the carriage. The predetermined position is a home position of the carriage.
