Abstract:

To prevent the local degradation of a recording medium even in the case of using the recording medium for which the number of times of recording is limited.

A specified area A0 larger than an area required for recording specified information is secured in the recording medium. When the specified information is updated, in the area A10a within a reservation area A20 which is the area where the specified information is not recorded at the present point of time, the specified information is recorded. Further, management information for managing the reservation area is updated so as to integrate a specified information recorded area A10 where the specified information is recorded to a new reservation area A20a and to exclude the area A10a where the specified information is newly recorded within the reservation area A20 at the present point of time from the reservation area A20a. Thus, the rewrite of the recording area of the recording medium due to the updating of the specified information is distributed to the entire specified area A0 and the local degradation of the recording medium is suppressed.
