Abstract:
To provide a recording device and a control method of the recording device which can prevent a drive source of a gap adjustment mechanism from being driven uselessly when a carriage fails to connect a switching mechanism.SOLUTION: A recording device includes a gap adjustment mechanism, a switching mechanism which switches connection/disconnection of power transmission between a motor for driving a part of a device main body and the gap adjustment mechanism, a linear encoder which detects a position of the carriage, a control part, and a nonvolatile memory. The control part stops a carriage motor when a load applied when the carriage operates an operated part of the switching mechanism exceeds a threshold (S13, S14). The nonvolatile memory stores information on a connection position indicating a position of the carriage when the switching mechanism is connected. The control part makes a conveyance motor drive when the carriage is in a connection position (S17, S21), and does not make the conveyance motor drive to drive the gap adjustment mechanism when the carriage is not in the connection position (S17, S18).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 21
