A recording device 10 includes a hard disk assembly (HDA) 11, a flash memory 12, an SDRAM 13 functioning as a cache, a hybrid controller 14 for controlling these media, and a host interface 15. The hybrid controller 14 has a control function for performing write/read control for the HDA 11 and the flash memory 12 individually, and for recording one large-volume data separately in the HDA 11 and the flash memory 12. When the data to be recorded is not less than a predetermined amount of data, the hybrid controller 14 records the data separately in the HDA 11 and the flash memory 12, in such a way that the closer the recording position of the HDA 11 gets to the inner periphery of the disk, the greater the ratio of separate recording in the flash memory 12 becomes.
