A 1st and 2nd optical systems modulate recording laser beams B, D from a polarizing beam splitter 5 via power controllers 6, 14 according to a recording pulse string generated by E/O modulators 6, 16 of a signal generator 12 and a recording pulse string of a prescribed pulse width or smaller among the recording pulses, into recording laser beams C, E, and expands the beam diameters by beam expander systems 10, 18. Further, the recording laser light E is shaped in an elliptic form wide in the radial direction of an optical original disk by a rear shielding body 19, and is made incident on a recording object lens 23 in the same light path as that of the recording laser light C via a polarizing beam splitter 11.
