To provide a recording device capable of suppressing occurrence of a jam state of a recording medium in a shared path portion shared as a supply path of the recording medium in a plurality of medium supply paths.
A recording device comprises: a plurality of transportation paths for supplying a sheet; a shared path portion; a movement section for moving the sheet; a print section 20 for performing printing onto the sheet; an insertion port 42 through which the sheet can be inserted into the plurality of transportation paths by being inserted therethrough; an opening/closing lid 41 provided so as to be able to open and close the insertion port 42; a detection sensor 45 for detecting a lid-open state where the opening/closing lid 41 opens the insertion port 42; and a movement control section for performing operation for moving the sheet outside the shared passage portion by driving the movement section irrespective of whether or not at least a part of the sheet is present in the shared passage portion before the sheet is supplied from transportation paths other than the transportation path provided with the insertion port 42 to the print section 20 when the detection sensor 45 detects the lid-open state.
