Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device which records by reciprocating a carriage having a recording head with respect to a conveyed medium, and can detect paper jam more appropriately.SOLUTION: A printer 1 includes : a carriage 8 which has a recording head 7 for recording on a sheet P and moves in a direction intersecting with a medium conveying direction; a carriage drive motor 9; a medium sensor 22 which detects the sheet P on a conveyance passage 15 for conveying the sheet P; and control means 10 which controls the carriage drive motor 9 and receives a detection signal of the medium sensor 22. The control means 10 can execute a jam determination step S3 for determining presence/absence of jam of the sheet P by referring to a drive current value K as a variation which varies in accordance with a drive load of the carriage drive motor 9 and a threshold T to the drive current value K, and changes the threshold T in accordance with a position of the sheet P on the conveyance passage 15.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
