To provide a recording liquid which yields a recorded product having a high printing quality and a high printing density, exerts a high shelf stability, a high water resistance and an excellent discharge durability at ink jet recordings, etc., and gives a high-quality printed product showing no blur at boundaries between other colors.
The titled recording liquid contains an aqueous medium, a carbon black having the following physical properties and a water-soluble polymer compound having a carboxyl group and an acid number of 250 mg KOH/g as a free acid. Physical properties of the carbon black: (1) A DBP oil absorption of 140 ml/100 g or larger, and (2) a pH of 6 or larger. Preferably, the recording liquid contains a water-soluble polymer compound having an acid number of from 300 to 500 mg KOH/g as a free acid.
