To obtain a recording liquid high in safety, not generating the precipitation of a carbon black, etc., during its preservation for a long period, good in injection endurance, capable of performing the recording with a high reliability on using it for an ink-jet recording, good in water proof property on recording to an ordinary paper, capable of obtaining a recorded material good in fastness other than the water proof property such as light fastness, especially forming an extremely small adhered substance (so called scorching on a heated electrode plate when using it for a heating-type ink-jet recording, and suitable as a heating-type ink-jet recording liquid.
This recording liquid containing a carbon black in an aqueous medium, has ≤0.05 absorbance of a toluene extract of the carbon black at the λmax in 330-340nm range or at 337.5nm in case not showing any λmax in the 330-340nm range.
