Abstract:

PURPOSE: To detect the shift of the whole data without reducing reading performance by coding and recording a packet identification(ID) code for specifying each packet together with data included in the packet.

CONSTITUTION: A packet ID code for specifying each of plural packets is coded and recorded together with data included in the packet. This recording and reproducing device is provided with a packet ID code adding means 20 for adding an ID code for specifying each of plural packets to data included in the packet and a coding means 22 for coding the data to which the packet ID code is added. In addition, an inspecting means 26 for checking the packet ID code in the case of reproducing data recorded in a recording medium is also included.
