Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a run length limit code of a required restriction by converting a data word to a code word while referring to a conversion table with a specified constitution and rewriting a bit in a specified system in the conversion of a data word into a code word.
CONSTITUTION: A serial/parallel conversion part 101 consisting of shift registers converts inputted serial bit data into data words of parallel 8 bits. A code conversion part 102 obtains an answering code word of 14 bits by referring to a conversion table 103 consisting of ROMs. A connection processing part 104 connects the code words successively in series by interposing a connection bit (0). At this time, when a pattern of (101) appears in the connection bit and its both side bits, the part 104 rewrites them to (010), and makes the run length of the bit (0) two or above. Then, when a pattern the run length of bit (0) of which is 12 or above appears, the part 104 rewrites the connection bit and respective 2 bits of its both sides to (00100), and makes the run length of the bit (0) 11 or below.
