To realize higher quality recording images and restrain liquid from splashing back by a method wherein recording is performed with recording ink containing water- soluble polymer compound, which shows nonionic characteristic in a coloring material and an ink and has a nitrogen-containing alicyclic complex ring, on the recording surface, on which the cationic substance of a recording medium is held.

When recording ink is given to a recording medium, a water-soluble polymer compound, which is included on the recording ink side, has a nitrogen- containing alicyclic complex ring and shows anionic characteristic in liquid, reacts with a cationic substance, which is held on the surface side of the recording medium under the coexistence with a coloring material, resulting in instantly starting the solidification of the coloring material component. As a result the feathering, which is the generation of the feather-like pattern at the peripheral part of a dot due to the blurring of recording ink along the fibers of the recording medium and the blurring of the outline of the dot, and the like can be prevented from developing. Further, since the cationic substance is held on the recording medium side, the splashing back of the insolubilizer of the coloring material can be fled from occurring at the giving of the insolublizer to the recording medium in the form of liquid drops.
