Title:
RECORDING MEDIUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS61143189
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a high-density recording medium capable of causing a chemical or physical change on a molecular basis under an external cause, comprising a monomolecular film or a built-up film thereof of a metal chelate compound having a C=N bond capable of releasing or incorporating a metal ion or a metal atom through anti-syn isomerization when being irradiated with light, and a liquid phase.

CONSTITUTION: The recording medium comprises a two-layer built-up film of chelate complex molecules consisting of syn-form chelate ligand molecules 1 and metal ions (or metal atoms) 3, the film being provided on a glass base 7, which is immersed in a liquid phase 6 contained in a container having an upper surface consisting of a transparent glass plate 5. When the recording medium 4 is irradiated with anti-form isomerizing light 4 consisting of light capable of supplying energy necessary for photo-isomerization, such as UV rays and visible rays, in a pattern, photo-isomerization in the direction of hν in formula (I) takes place at the irradiated part, whereby the metal ion 3 is released, and rearrangement into an anti-form chelate ligand molecule 2 is caused. Accordingly, a recording medium with information recorded therein can be obtained.
