PURPOSE: To obtain the recording and reproducing device of a magnetic tape capable of decreasing a normal phase deviation between a reproducing signal at the time of reproducing and a reference signal even when the difference of a tape travel speed at the time of reproducing is large against the time of recording.
CONSTITUTION: That the change of the phase difference between the reproducing signal and the reference signal is less than a prescribed value per prescribed time is detected by a phase lock detection circuit 13 at the time of reproducing. The phase difference at this time is added to the output of a latch circuit 15 and held in the latch circuit 15. The output of the held latch circuit 15 is multiplied by a fixed number and fed back to a driving circuit 5.
