Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording or reproducing device in which a discrimination is made for an AS-MO optical disk and a non-AS-MO optical disk.
SOLUTION: The information recording and reproducing device records information on an optical disk and reproduces the information recorded on the disk. In the device, an AS-MO, an MD, a CD, a CD-R and a DVD are discriminated by sum signals (S2) and the AS-MO and the MD disks are discriminated by push-pull signals (S6). The discrimination of the AS-MO and the MD disks is conducted by detecting the discontinuous region of the land (grooves) of the AS-MO disk.
