Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a recording sheet for ink jet printer, etc., having excellent ink absorbing characteristics, printing qualities and water resistance by providing at least one side of a substrate with a porous layer having a specific oil absorbing amount and laying a coating layer having ink absorbing characteristics on the porous layer.
CONSTITUTION: A biaxially orientated film of polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate is subjected to corona discharge treatment, then, at least one side of a polyester film is coated with a coating agent comprising a water- dispersible polymer such as acrylic polymer emulsion and colloidal silica, connected in a chained state and/or in a branched state, in 10μm thickness after drying to give a porous layer having ≥1ml/m2 oil absorption, further the porous layer is covered with an aqueous solution of a water-soluble polymer such as polyvinyl alcohol, and dried to provid a coating layer having ink absorbing characteristics to obtain the objective recording sheet comprising a porous layer with 0.06-2.0μm peak diameter in a pore diameter distribution curve, having ≥5 undulations with ≥0.2 μm height/40μm on the surface.
