PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording system and a recording method capable of quickly moving to a recording start position without inviting an increase in size and complication of recording work.SOLUTION: A recording system for performing prescribed recording to a recording medium by a self-propelled recording device includes: photographable photographing means; acquisition means for acquiring a position of the self-propelled recording device on the recording medium, a recording start position at which the self-propelled recording device is located in starting recording on the recording medium and a recording area in the recording medium from an image including the entire recording medium on which the self-propelled recording device is mounted, photographed before the recording start by the photographing means; and recording control means for controlling the self-propelled recording device to perform recording on the basis of the information acquired by the acquisition means and information on recording including a recorded image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
