Title:
RECOVERABLE COMPOSITE STRUCTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05254016
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a thermally recoverable article formed from a composite structure used to environmentally protect substrates by using polymer material as a linked recoverable fiber, and cross-linking the polymer material.

CONSTITUTION: This article is made of a composite sheet 1 in which a thermally shrinkable filament 3 is used as warp and a multifilament glass fiber 4 as weft, and the cloth is fully embedded in a matrix polymer material 5. The matrix material 5 has two thin foils 6 and 7 formed from a thermally recoverable polymer, the thin foils 6 and 7 are laminated at opposite faces of the cloth during a melting lamination process, then cross-linked to attach to the cloth and other thin foils. The article can be thermally shrunken by a torch, has abrasive-resistant, and has higher tear strength.
