Abstract:

To recover carbon monoxide from purge gas of acetic acid synthesis while preventing the accumulation of nitrogen as an inert component.

In this method for recovering carbon monoxide from purge gas of acetic acid synthesis containing at least carbon monoxide, nitrogen and hydrogen, the purge gas 6 is divided into a gas fraction 11 rich in carbon monoxide and remained gas fractions 12, 13 rich in nitrogen and hydrogen by an absorption process G, especially a pressure-changing absorption process, and the fraction rich in carbon monoxide 11 is returned to a process prior to the acetic acid synthesis C.
