PURPOSE: To provide a method for readily recovering a high-purity organometallic compound synthesized through a Grignard reaction or its related reaction from its ether solution in a high yield.
CONSTITUTION: In distillation and recovery of an organometallic compound from a reaction mixture solution after synthesizing the organometallic compound by a condensation reaction between a metal halide and an organomagnesium halide through demagnesiumhalogenation, a non-ether solvent is added to the reaction mixture solution so as to azeotropically distill it. Distillation and recovery of an alkylmetal from a reaction mixture solution after synthesizing the alkylmetal by a condensation reaction between magnesium alloy and an alkylhalide through demagnesiumhalogenation is carried out in the same manner.
