Abstract:
This invention provides a novel (Ca,Sr)S:Eu-based red phosphor which can further satisfactorily enhance brightness. The red phosphor is represented by general formula: (Ca1-x,Srx)S:Eu,In wherein x is 0 to 1 and the content of In is 0.05 to 4.0% by mole. In the (Ca,Sr)S:Eu-based red phosphor, the incorporation of In in an amount of not less than 0.05% by mole is advantageous in that a luminescence peak derived from the defect of the host material can be eliminated, a red light luminescence spectrum having a very high unimodal property can be obtained, and the red luminescence intensity and brightness can be significantly enhanced.
