PURPOSE: To rapidly and well float and separate tin, arsenic and Sb as well simultaneously with copper by stirring molten crude lead having the ratio to the amt. of the copper and the total amt. of the tin, arsenic and Sb within a specific range at the prescribed temp. selected in accordance with the compsn. thereof.
CONSTITUTION: The crude lead having the above ratio which is known and is within the range of about 10 to 1 is rapidly cooled down to the prescribed temp. in the range of about 900 to 600°C. The prescribed temp. is so selected that the sepn. of the phase rich in the lead and the phase rich in impurities occurs and that the above ratio in the phase rich in the impurities formed during rapid cooling is kept substantially constant. The crude lead is held at this prescribed temp. or the temp. approximate thereto for the time within a range of about 3 to 60 minutes and sufficient time for obtaining the lead phase not contg. the impurities at a substantial ratio and the floating phase rich in the impurities by completing the sepn. The phase rich in the impurities is removed. The above ratio is preferably about 3, the sepn. temp. about 800°C and the holding time about 5 to 10 minutes.
