Title:
REFLECTION LIQUID CRYSTAL PROJECTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3785799
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal projector which can be made small-sized by reduction of the optical path or the like.
SOLUTION: Light from a light source 1 is separated to R, G, and B spectral components by a spectral diffraction means, and these color light are made incident on reflection liquid crystal panels corresponding to respective color light through a PBS(polarized beam splitter), and they are modulated in these reflection liquid crystal panels by a video signal, and emitted color light is converged through this PBS by a cross dichroic prism 7 and is projected on a screen 20 trough a projection lens 8. This light is separated into prescribed bicolor light (R+G) and unicolor light (B), and the bicolor light is made incident on a 2'-th PBS 5g', and spolarized light reflected by this PBS 5g' is used as one color light (G), and p-polarized light is used as the other color light (R), The PBS consists of a narrow band PBS having a narrow band characteristic, and light is separated into prescribed bicolor light by this narrow band PBS.
