Title:
REFLECTION TYPE HIGH-PRESSURE DISCHARGE LAMP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3166307
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To use an existing outer bulb for an incandescent lamp mass-produced as a molded glass for the outer bulb of a reflection type high-pressure discharge lamp without changing its structure and effectively prevent the dielectric breakdown between a lead wire and a base by the pulse voltage at the time of a start.
CONSTITUTION: An expansion section 38 is formed at the skirt section 14 of a base 12 fitted to an outer bulb 10 storing an arc tube inside. The preset range of the portion of the skirt section 14 nearest to ferrules 30 which are metal caps is expanded outward apart from the ferrules 30 as an expansion section 38. The distance L between the skirt section 14 and the ferrules 30 can be expanded, and the dielectric breakdown of this portion by the high pulse voltage applied at the time of a start can be effectively prevented. An electric shock on a person can be effectively avoided while the conventional structure of the outer bulb 10 is not changed.
