To develop a reflection type liquid crystal display device of a front light type and a touch input type wherein display is bright and a display image is hardly disturbed by efficiently emitting light made incident from a side face with good vertical directivity and which is excellent in display quality, life and thinness and lightness.
The reflection type liquid crystal display device has one or two or more illuminating devices at the side face of a reflection type liquid crystal display panel which is provided with at least a liquid crystal cell and a light reflecting means and wherein display light transmitted through a liquid crystal layer by reflecting external light made incident from an outer surface by the light reflecting means is emitted from a viewer's side cell substrate to be visually confirmed, a light path controlling layer on the outer surface side of the viewer's side cell substrate and a transparent touch panel adhered to the outer side thereof via a transparent adhesive layer. The light path controlling layer has a light emitting means wherein a plurality of fine grooves are disposed and the groove is provided with a light path changing inclined surface for reflecting light made incident from the side face via the illuminating devices to the rear side cell substrate side.
